The Tempest (2023-)

 

 

 

 

Directed by the Estonia Avant-Gard Theatre Director Peeter Jalakas, this reimagining of one of Shakespeare's last plays premiered on the 23rd of September 2023 and is continuing in the repertoire of the National Kaunas Drama Theatre in Vilnius Lithuania during 2024.

Jalakas has created a modern and theatrical show where theatre and modern technology is combined to fully immerse the audience into the exotic island that is the stage for this dramatic play. Offering a new perspective on the inhabitants of the nameless island as the beginning of a new, more perfect humanity this new interpretation of the Tempest forces audiences to question Prospero's actions, his nobility, his morality in the way in which he treats the island in order to lure his enemies to him.
